KS3 pupils recently wrote letters to the Manager at Sainsbury’s.  They were keen to negotiate a discount on drinks in the café, as this is a valuable venue for Thrive activities but can be quite expensive.  Some powerful persuasive points were put across in the letters, which were delivered by hand.  A positive email was received in response and, although unfortunately Sainsbury’s couldn’t offer a discount, they kindly donated a £20 gift voucher for the pupils to use.  The following week, four happy pupils set off for Sainsbury’s café, having decided on a budget (stretch their money as far as they can!) and enjoyed a drink and a shared muffin, whilst discussing the news.

May 2018: WMAT Teaching School Success!

I am delighted to share the news that we have been successful in our bid to be designated as a Teaching School. This means we will receive extra funding from the government to provide continuing professional and leadership training and to take a leading role in recruiting and training new entrants to the teaching profession. The bid was focused around Wellsway School, which has been designated as a National Support School, but also referenced Saltford Primary School and St John’s Primary School. Our Teaching School Alliance will work in partnership with Three Ways School and the Palladian Academy Trust in Bath and is called the Great Western Teaching School Alliance, named after the railway that connects Bath, Keynsham and Bristol. Many thanks to all colleagues who supported and contributed to the bid.
