      Stefan Madzarevic

      Operational leadership of Aspire Academy, leading teaching and learning, training and management. I have 3 daughters and spend most of my time being a taxi driver! When I have some spare time I follow rugby and still enjoy playing cricket in the summer.

      Director of Learning for the Primary Centre and Deputy DSL. I began working with children with special needs more than 25 years ago. In those years I have worked across the age-range and specialist provisions before returning now to my first love - primary. I am very proud to lead an amazing team who are totally committed to supporting our pupils overcome the challenges they face and achieve more than they ever believed they could.

      Director of learning of the Secondary Centre and DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead). I started my current job at Aspire Academy some years ago after time spent in a local secondary school as Director of Post 16. When I am not working with Aspire students I love to travel, ski anywhere where there is good snow and watch football, Leeds United of course! I have a lively dog called Pickles who often takes me for a walk and after all of that exercise and excitement I love to settle down with a good book.

    • Anne Porter

      I have been working as a teacher on the school site for some years, and before that at The Pupil Referral Unit at Julian Road. I mainly teach secondary maths and primary food tech, both subjects which I really enjoy. Out of school I like to keep fit and enjoy running – I have taken part in the Bath half marathon several times. I like a challenge and plan to climb Mount Kilimanjaro this year, but in school, love it when I have helped a child to achieve/learn something new, or when they are able to trust me enough to help them in whatever capacity.

      I have been at Aspire for six years and enjoy teaching the wide variety of pupils and subjects. In my spare time, I love to play the guitar and work on old VWs!

    • Caoimhe Courtney

      English Teacher in Secondary and Middle Leader - responsibility for English across the school since May 2010; in that time I have had the opportunity to help many wonderful young people to improve their Literacy skills. My own practice has been challenged and improved by working in such a diverse environment, and I continue to learn each time I step into the classroom.

      Outside of the classroom, I am an avid reader with a keen interest in photography, crafting and cooking. Spending time with family and friends is high on my agenda and we often go camping together during the summer holidays.

      Teacher in Primary Centre. Hi, my name Is Nathan Griffiths and I’m the key Stage 1 teacher at Aspire Academy. I qualified as a teacher in 2014 and have specialised in ks1 since. I am very proud to be part of the Aspire team and love working with the children in the centre.

      Teacher of Bats class (year 3 & 4). I have worked in special education for most of my career. At the moment I am working in the Primary Centre with Years 3 and 4. I enjoy working with my colleagues and dealing with challenging behaviour.

      Teacher of PE across the school.
      I enjoy all sports, particularly football and support the greatest team in the world - Newcastle United. I love food but also thankfully enjoy keeping fit and exercising. I also love spending time with my wife and daughter.

      Teacher of 'Owls' class (Y5/6) in Primary. I'm a father of two and keen painter/illustrator, reader and mountaineer who also enjoys cycling (my commute up hill to Aspire is a bracing start to the school day). I've enjoyed working with the young people here since September 2015; applying my previous experience of working with primary and secondary students with special educational needs.

      I have been a Secondary School Teacher for many years and have been at The Aspire Academy since 2007. I teach a number of subjects including PSHE, Maths, Cookery and Project based learning.
      Outside of School I have many interests including Travel, photography and reading. I also love spending time with our 2 dogs - a Westie and a Scottie.

      HLTA in Primary Centre, responsible for Forest School and Thrive assessments. I have been working at Aspire since 2005 and in the Primary Centre since 2006. I am a Forest School Leader and am currently nearing the completion of my Thrive Practitioner Training.

      I have worked here for 9 years in various different roles. I am currently working in the Alternative provision, as a Vocational Lecturer, teaching English, ICT and Step Up to secondary and Forest School to Primary.

      I Enjoy all sports, in particular Rugby which I still play for my local team. I'm a Bath Rugby fan and enjoy going to the Rec when I get chance and watching England on TV

      In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my partner and our 2 children.

      HLTA in Primary Centre. I work in Aspire’s primary centre as an HLTA specialising in speech and language difficulties, working alongside the speech & language therapist. I have worked with children facing emotional and behavioural challenges for 14 years – firstly in the outreach service and since 2010 in the primary centre. I enjoy my job, especially working with the children.

      TA in Primary Centre. I started working at Aspire as a volunteer in 2013 whilst training to become a Teaching assistant. Once qualified I then started full time as a TA. In 2016 I am hoping to start my training to become a HLTA. Over the past year part of my role has been to work with Sporting Family Change giving children from our centre 1-1 positive experiences outside of school. I am a proud member of our team and committed to helping the children be the best they can be.

      I am an HLTA in the Secondary Centre. I support learning and behaviour in a number of lessons with years 10 and 11. I also teach Year 10 Public Services and Year 11 Science. Outside of school I enjoy reading and watching sport. I also enjoy the Cinema and spending time with friends.

      I am currently the Student and Family Support Team Manager. The team supports young people across BANES with Managed Moves (moving between schools for a fresh start), Fair Access (has been permanently excluded and returning to a mainstream school, or new to the area with previous behaviour or attendance concerns) and Re-integration (supporting pupils to increase their attendance in school). In my spare time I enjoy cooking, shopping, renovating our house and spending time with the family.

During that time I was involved in the academic and pastoral care of students from age 11 to 18. I particularly enjoyed arranging school trips in both the UK and Europe. My interests are skiing, swimming, cooking and gardening.

      Retiring from my job as an Assistant Head at a Bath Secondary School, in 2011, I was elected as a BaNES Councillor.As a Councillor I was involved in a campaign to stop the cuts to Children’s Services.I was re elected in 2015 and I’m part of a Scrutiny Panel, ensuring no cuts are planned for frontline services for young people.I enjoy keeping fit and regularly attend Zumba and Body Conditioning classes

      I represent a Keynsham ward on Wansdyke and BANES councils from 1991 until I retired in 2011. I am Vice chair of BANES Fostering and BANES Adoption panels. I also Chair Sirona's Shared Lives panel which support Adults with learning difficulties.

      I am a season ticket holder at Bristol Rovers and also enjoy regular visits to my favourite lake for a spot of course fishing.
